About Trades Calcs

Trades Calcs builds free, fast, mobile-friendly calculators for the people who actually do the work — HVAC technicians, electricians, plumbers, welders, and landscapers.

Every calculator on this site is designed for the job site first. That means large touch targets for gloved hands, high-contrast displays readable in direct sunlight, and results that reference the codes and standards you need to pass inspection.

Why We Built This

Too many trade calculators online are either buried behind signups, cluttered with ads, or clearly built by someone who has never pulled wire through conduit or soldered a copper fitting. We wanted tools that speak the language of the trade — CFM, AWG, GPM, IPM — without dumbing things down, but with enough context that an apprentice studying for their journeyman exam can learn something.

Privacy & How It Works

Every calculation runs entirely in your browser. Your inputs are never sent to a server, never stored in a database, never shared with anyone. When you close the tab, your data is gone.

We use analytics to understand which calculators are most useful so we can prioritize improvements. We don't track individual users or sell data to third parties.

Code References

Many of our calculators reference industry codes and standards including the National Electrical Code (NEC), International Plumbing Code (IPC), Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC), and ASHRAE guidelines. These references are provided for educational purposes. Always verify requirements with your local jurisdiction — adopted codes and amendments vary by location.
